Libertyville Marine returns to hero’s welcome

Family and friends of returning Marine Lance Cpl. Kevin Cronin held a parade to welcome him home to Libertyville on Saturday.

The parade included trucks, banners, fire equipment and plenty of supportive onlookers.

It wasn’t a long parade, preceding only a few blocks down Peterson Road in Libertyville from the Cronin family’s store, Century Electric Supply Company, to a local restaurant, Austin’s Saloon and Eatery.

Cronin’s mother, Cheryl, said, those marching in the parade began gathering about noon for the 1 p.m. parade and subsequent celebration.

The Libertyville area fared all right in the Friday night and Saturday morning storms, she said, and the parade was able to go on as planned.
