1 dead, 2 wounded in Cortland shooting

CORTLAND, Ill. — Authorities in northern Illinois say an Arkansas man is dead and two other people are wounded after a shooting in the DeKalb County town of Cortland.

The DeKalb County sheriff’s department says 46-year-old Michael Sebourn of Redfield, Ark., died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at about 3 a.m. Friday.

DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott tells WDKB Radio that officers from Cortland found a struggle going on when they were called to a home Thursday night. Scott says Sebourn began firing from a handgun and wounded two people.

Authorities say police got the victims out of the house, and their injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Officials with the sheriff’s department tried to contact Sebourn, who remained inside the home. He was later found dead.
