• Alejandro Jacobo, 19, of the 600 block of Grand Avenue in Elgin, appeared in bond court Thursday on felony charges of aggravated battery, aggravated domestic battery and unlawful restraint as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic battery, according to court documents. Jacobo choked a woman he knew, refused to let her leave a room, hung up her telephone and kicked and punched her, documents said. Bail was set at $75,000 Thursday, of which Jacobo must pay 10 percent to be released before his next court date, scheduled for July 28 in St. Charles.
• Several prescription drugs priced at almost $470 were taken between noon and 1 p.m. June 6 from the Walmart pharmacy, 1001 Randall Road, according to police reports. The theft was reported to Elgin police Wednesday, reports said. A customer told the pharmacist he couldn't pay for the medication when the pharmacist turned away and left the drugs on the counter; the man took the drugs and left without paying, reports said.
• A Caterpillar construction scraper, valued at $25,000, was stolen between June 1 and Monday from the 12N700 block of U.S. Route 20 near Elgin, according to a sheriff's report.
• Someone used a firecracker to blow up a mailbox on the 7N0-99 block of Stevens Road near St. Charles between 4 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. July 15, according to a sheriff's report.
