McDonald’s builds biggest branch for Olympics

LONDON — McDonald’s is super-sizing for the 2012 London Olympics by building its biggest restaurant.

The 32,000 square-foot, two-story building in the Olympic Park will have 1,500 seats.

It’s one of four temporary McDonald’s to be constructed on the site, including one in the athletes’ village.

The burger chain, which has been an Olympics sponsor since 1976, hopes to serve more than 1.75 million people during the 29 days of the Olympics and Paralympics.
