Hoffman Estates crash injures three

Three people were treated for minor injuries after a three-vehicle crash tied up traffic at a Hoffman Estates intersection for about an hour late Monday morning, police said.

The driver of a Nissan Sentra was ticketed after making a left turn in front of a vehicle Barrington and Hassell roads, causing the crash, said Hoffman Estates police Lt. Greg Poulos.

Police said the male driver of the Nissan disobeyed the traffic light while making a left turn from the northbound lanes of Barrington Road and was struck by a southbound Honda Accord, which in turn hit a Lexus RX 350.

The crash, which occurred at 10:38 a.m., was cleared by 11:40 a.m., Poulos said.

All three victims were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries and later released, according to police.
