Hoffman Estates fire causes $10,000 damage

A detached garage fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damages Sunday night, according to Hoffman Estates fire officials.

At 5:25 p.m. the Hoffman Estates Fire Department was called to a home on the 600 block of Illinois Boulevard after the fire was reported. It took firefighters about ten minutes to extinguish the blaze, Fire Captain Pat Fortuna said.

Fortuna said that the fire appeared to start in one of the garage's front corners, but the exact cause is still under investigation. There was a car inside the garage that had very minor smoke damage, according to Fortuna.

The fire was contained to the garage and no injuries were reported.
