Midwest Gaming presents check to Standing Tall Foundation

Des Plaines Rivers Casino general manager Bill Keena, representing Midwest Gaming & Entertainment, LLC, Neil Bluhm, Greg Carlin, and Clairvest Group, Inc., presented a check for $15,000 to the Rev. John P. Smyth of the Reverend John P. Smyth Standing Tall Charitable Foundation in Des Plaines Mayor Martin J. Moylan’s office last week.

The Standing Tall Foundation provides the means through which the lives of homeless, underserved and/or at-risk children and disenfranchised families may be improved in order to develop and establish a safe, secure, functional, and productive lifestyle for the well-being of the child and/or for the preservation of the family unit.

Assistance emphasizes education, counseling, relevant faith-based principles.

The Standing Tall Foundation, having granted over 250 academic scholarships to students in need, is one of Mayor Moylan’s favorite Des Plaines charities.

“Father Smyth, the executive director of Standing Tall, is a respected individual in our community, as well as throughout the United States. We value his many years as administrator of Maryville Academy and, now, as the director of Standing Tall. We appreciate the generosity of Neil Bluhm, Greg Carlin, and the Clairvest Group for taking an interest in this Des Plaines charity and for their willingness to help the less fortunate,” Mayor Moylan said.
