‘Music Man’ onstage in Arlington Hts.

Rare is the musical that has such memorable songs you find yourself humming them to yourself for days.

But that is definitely the case with St. James Community Theatre’s production of Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man,” which will be performed this summer at St. James Parish Center in Arlington Heights. It featuring such classics as “Til There Was You,” “Trouble” and “76 Trombones”

The show is running July 15-30 and features more than 100 actors from all over the Chicago area, from as far away as Lake Zurich and Chicago.

St. James Community Theatre has performed outstanding musicals for 42 years and was founded by Fr. Bill Zavaski, known as Father Bill. He continues the tradition of appearing briefly onstage in a “surprise” role — this year he is also joined by his dog, Merton.

The show is directed by Kristy Warren and choreographed by Marina Sterner. Music director is Marcie Selvaggio-Mattis and assistant music director is Case Carvell.

Opening night cast for “Music Man” features Kristin Zanini as Marion Paroo, Tony Mirabelli as Harold Hill and Ben Senetra as Winthrop Paroo.

Other cast members are Bob Leff as Mayor Shinn, Kristine Corrado as Eulalie Shinn, Kate Konopasek as Mrs. Paroo, Randy Lechelt as Charlie Cowell, Mary Catherine Hanafee-LaPlante as Amaryllis, Jenna Borrelli as Zaneeta Shinn, Sarah Jones as Gracie Shinn, and Nicky Mendelsohn as Tommy.

Closing cast features Rebecca Parvin as Marion Paroo, Tony Calzaretta as Harold Hill, Jake Petrie as Winthrop Paroo, Bob Nowakowski as Mayor Shinn, Maryanne Belter as Eulalie Shinn, Nanette Sowa as Mrs. Paroo, James Dieckmann as Charlie Cowell, Lucy Bullock as Amaryllis, Erin Saflarski as Zaneeta Shinn, Carley Coleman as Gracie Shinn, and Brad Grochocinski as Tommy.

Marcellus is played in all shows by Tom Hussey, as is the barbershop quartet, portrayed by Case Carvell, Jack Saflarski, Brian Eiffes and Mike Schoenbeck. The Constable is played by Steve Sharer.

The “Pick-a-little-talk-a-little” ladies are in all of the shows, too: Kathy Mirabelli, Kristy Loughin-Vance, Amy Keipert, Karen Larock, Laurel Saflarski, Sue Nowakowski, Judy Petrie and Lin Carvell.
