One man killed in crash in Mount Prospect

A Mount Prospect man was killed Thursday when he was struck by two cars while trying to cross Busse Road near Mount Prospect, authorities said.

Christopher Spatafora, 51, was hit at about 10 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Busse Road and James Drive, said Liane Jackson, a spokeswoman with the Cook County sheriff’s office.

The victim walked into northbound traffic and was hit by the first car, after which he fell into the roadway and was hit by another car, Jackson said.

A citation was issued to the second driver for not having a valid driver’s license, but no other citations were issued, Jackson said.

Neither driver was drinking, she said, and toxicology results on the victim won’t be available for a couple of weeks.

The victim was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights following the crash, according to officials at the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The crash remains under investigation.
