Arlington Hts. library hosts dino exhibit

Over 200 million years ago, the earth was dominated by creatures faster and deadlier than humans could possibly imagine. Within a period of 25 million years, dinosaurs spread around the world — a dominating presence that would last for the next 135 million years.

Learn more about these amazing creatures when a traveling exhibit, “Origins: The Dawn of Dinosaurs,” opens at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library on Friday, July 8. Get a glimpse of early Triassic life, 225 million years ago, when the two earliest dinosaurs, Eoraptor and Herrerasaurus, thrived. The dinosaurs come to life in this exhibit which paints a picture of their world, using:

Ÿ Life-size flesh models

Ÿ Replica skeletons

Ÿ Original fossil wood and volcanic ash

Ÿ Expedition equipment and images from the discovery site in Argentina

Ÿ A hands-on dinosaur silhouette rubbing table

Ÿ A video theater tent showing the “Fragments of Time” DVD

The exhibit, which was created by Project Exploration, will be in the Hendrickson Room from July 8-29.
