America’s Chefs to help Batavia Goodwill

Did you miss seeing America’s Chefs at Naperville’s Ribfest last weekend?

They will grill a hamburger for you Thursday if you bring a donation to the Goodwill store in Batavia.

The chefs — featured on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” television show — will serve up barbecue fare from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the store, 450 N. Randall Road. All they ask is that you bring a bag of donations for Goodwill.

America’s Chefs have been visiting American military bases the last several years in an effort started by “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” host Guy Fieri. Goodwill Industries’ AbilityOne employment training program runs the food service at Great Lakes Naval Station in North Chicago. More than 700 disabled people are employed there.

The chefs were scheduled to work at the station Tuesday and Wednesday.

Chefs slated to appear in Batavia are Rich “Gorilla” Bacchi, Mike “Hodad” Hardin, “Panini” Pete Blohme, Jeff “Stretch” Rumaner, Dimitri Kallianis, Sarah Simington, Darwell Yeager and Craig Carter.

America’s Chefs is a nonprofit organization that entertains and educates U.S. servicemen and their families through culinary-related shows and demonstrations.
