Sailors at Great Lakes Naval Station today will have gourmet breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared by chefs with ties to Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" show hosted by Guy Fieri. The effort is staged by the nonprofit America's Chefs organization, which works with all facets of the military at home and abroad. Among those cooking for the sailors today will be Dimitri Kallianis of The Shanty in Wadsworth; Rich "Gorilla" Bacci of Gorilla's BBQ in Pacifica, Calif.; Stretch of Grinders and Grinders West in Kansas City, Mo.; and Sarah Simington of Baltimore's Blue Moon Cafe. All of the chefs' restaurants have been featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." Officials said the chefs are expected to produce about 6,000 meals today at Great Lakes.
