Lake Co. Family YMCA enjoys visit from volunteers

Reading, building blocks, doing art projects and playing duck-duck-goose were all a part of the fun as employees from the Waukegan and Vernon Hills Target stores volunteered their time at the Y-Pals YMCA Child Care Center in Waukegan.

“I find this a good way to give back to the community,” said volunteer Adrian Davis. “We are showing not just as a company, but as individuals, that kids matter and their development is important.”

Volunteers were participating in a Day of Caring project developed by United Way of Lake County. United Way pairs interested businesses with special community volunteer projects around the community.

“The kids love when we have volunteers. It gives them the opportunity to interact with others and practice their social and language skills,” said Lake County Family YMCA Early Head Start Executive Director Kay Petersen.

Y-Pals YMCA Child Care and Learning Center offers an educational and nurturing environment for children ages three to five years. The center provides children with a safe and stimulating environment for daily development.

The Y-Pals Child Care Center is located at 1500 Sunset, Suite B, Waukegan. For more information contact Petersen at 847-336-2196.
