Mundelein man denies growing marijuana

One of two Mundelein men accused of growing marijuana inside their house pleaded not guilty Thursday in Lake County Circuit Court.

Paul Cutt, 37, could face as many as seven years in prison if convicted of possession of marijuana, but would also be eligible for probation.

Assistant State's Attorney Danielle Pascucci said Mundelein police received a tip on May 28 that marijuana was being grown inside a house in the 300 block of Bingham Circle in the village.

Police armed with a search warrant arrived at the address around noon that day, Pascucci said, and discovered 34 marijuana plants growing in one of the bedrooms.

Officers also found 3.6 pounds of processed marijuana hidden inside a crawl space in the house, Pascucci said, as well as several pieces of plant growing equipment.

Cutt and Joseph Munts, 25, who also told police he lived at the address, were taken into custody without incident.

Circuit Judge James Booras ordered Cutt to appear in court July 14.

Munts is scheduled to appear for arraignment July 7.
