Sky game day

San Antonio Silver Stars at Sky, 7 p.m., Allstate Arena

TV: Comcast CN100

Last time: On Sunday, the Silver Stars won at Atlanta, 92-86; the Sky lost to Phoenix, 86-78, on Saturday.

Skinny: The Sky, fresh off the frustration of dropping a home game to Phoenix primarily because of a soft effort on the boards and defense, must rebound against the best team in the WNBA. San Antonio comes in with the top record in the league, as well as its highest scoring average (93.3 ppg). Since losing to Phoenix, the Silver Stars have won two straight games and former Sky guard Jia Perkins is a big reason why. Perkins, who was traded in the offseason for Sky forward Michelle Snow, scored 31 points in a win over the Los Angeles Sparks and 25 points in a win over Atlanta. Her career scoring average is 11.3 points, but this year she is averaging 16.9. The Silver Stars also feature one of the best points guards in the business in Becky Hammon, who had a 17-point effort against Atlanta.

The Sky must get tougher in the paint. The Mercury outrebounded the Sky 40-29 and made a killing on second-chance points. Sky center Sylvia Fowles had 28 points against the Mercury and guard Epiphanny Prince added 16 points.

Next: At Phoenix, 9 p.m. Friday
