Crystal Lake to widen Pingree Road

Submitted by City of Crystal Lake

The city of Crystal Lake has announced the reconstruction and widening of Pingree Road, south of Route 14 and north of Rakow Road, will start Tuesday, June 28.

This project will widen the roadway to include a bidirectional center turn lane, restoration of the pavement surface and a new sidewalk/bike path. Funding for this work was made possible, in part, through a $1.5 million grant from the Federal Surface Transportation Program to cover a significant portion of the construction and engineering inspection costs.

To condense this project into a single season and minimize overall disruption to the public, traffic will be limited to northbound movements only during construction.

A detour will be posted for traffic wishing to travel south, directing motorists onto Route 31 from Route 14, to Rakow Road and back to Pingree Road. Local traffic and access to driveways will be maintained.
