Des Plaines teen sentenced to boot camp for burglary

The second of two teens involved in a string of residential burglaries last year in Des Plaines has pleaded guilty.

In exchange for his guilty plea to residential burglary, 17-year-old Eric Simmons of Des Plaines was sentenced to boot camp and ordered to pay $530 in fines.

Des Plaines police say Simmons and his co-defendant Keewon Taylor burglarized five homes between January and March 2010 in the area bordered by Oakton Street, Touhy Avenue and Mannheim and Wolf roads. Police say they recovered some of the stolen items.

Taylor pleaded guilty to residential burglary last year and was also sentenced to boot camp.
