The Elk Grove Parks Foundation was the recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Grainger Foundation.
At the recent Elk Grove Park Board meeting, James Steffens, branch manager of Grainger in Bensenville, presented the check to Tom Cooke, park board commissioner and president of the Elk Grove Parks Foundation.
The Grainger Foundation of Lake Forest, was established in 1949, by Mr. and Mrs. William Wallace Grainger, and has provided substantial support over the years to a broad range of organizations including educational institutions, museums, health care, and human services. David Grainger is the president of The Grainger Foundation and senior chairman of Grainger.
The Elk Grove Parks Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to supporting safe and innovative parks and recreational opportunities for the Elk Grove Park District. The Parks Foundation assists at risk families by helping to fund their recreational needs. The Grainger grant came at a much needed time. The Parks Foundation has had a substantial increase in scholarship requests the past few years. The Grainger grant will go directly to the scholarship fund for continued support of the Elk Grove Village residents.
James Steffens nominated the Elk Grove Parks Foundation for this year's Grainger Foundation Grant. Grainger, the leading broad line supplier of facilities maintenance products, helps local businesses maintain, repair and operate their facilities. Grainger is a leader in disaster preparedness and response and technical education through strategic charitable contributions and community initiatives. The Bensenville location provides many products and services to the Elk Grove Village community.
