Carol Stream man dies in motorcycle crash

A 43-year-old Carol Stream man died after he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a light pole Sunday night, authorities said.

Kevin E. Arnswald of the 800 block of Wabash Court was driving his 2008 Harley-Davidson through a residential area near Roy DeShane Elementary School and Armstrong Park. He hit the light pole as he headed west on the 400 block of Chippewa Trail, according to Carol Stream police.

Arnswald was treated at the scene by paramedics from the Carol Stream Fire Protection District and transported to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

Only a partial autopsy had been performed Monday, and toxicology results are pending, according to the DuPage County coroner’s office.

Sgt. Brian Cooper said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The police department’s Crash Response Team and the DuPage County Crash Response Team are investigating.
