North Aurora police looking for robbery suspect

North Aurora police are seeking a single suspect from a Monday night armed robbery at the Dollar General store, 190 Butterfield Road, that netted an unspecified amount of cash.

In the robbery, in which no injuries were reported, a man entered the store at 8:51 p.m., pointed a black handgun at the two employees and demanded cash, police said.

The suspect, described as a husky black male about 5 feet 8 inches tall, got the cash and then fled the scene going north toward Butterfield Road, police said.

“He left on foot,” said Cmdr. Scott Buziecki. “If he had a vehicle, no one saw it.”

The man was wearing black sweatpants, a gray pullover hoodie with an Air Jordan logo on the front, and a face covering, police said.

Monday’s episode marks the second time the store has been robbed in less than three months. In early April, two men robbed clerks of more than $300.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call police at (630) 879-8705, ext. 610.
