Touhy Avenue closed in Des Plaines

Touhy Avenue in Des Plaines will be closed at the Canadian National railroad crossing through 4 p.m. Friday, June 10 as part of a track replacement and resurfacing project, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

The road will be completely closed at Mannheim Road and at River Road with detour signs redirecting traffic to Des Plaines River Road south, to Route 72 to the west, and Mannheim Road to the north.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and obey signage.
