Severe thunderstorm watch in effect

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 11 p.m. for Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake and Will counties.

The weather threat remains after an early afternoon thunderstorm made its way through much of DuPage and Kane counties.

Hail was reported in Batavia, West Chicago, Villa Park, and Carol Stream between 2:40 p.m. and 2:53 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
