New concert venue proposed for Prospect Hts.

Four men addressed the Prospect Heights City Council Monday night about their plans for a bar and concert venue with a late-night liquor license. The council had questions about security.

The petitioners envision a venue where a performer, playing earlier in the night at a place like the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, would then play an abbreviated set in Prospect Heights. The venue would be at 1227 Rand Road.

Brett Leonette, one of the four men who addressed the council, said the venue would be like 113 Bourbon Street on Chicago’s South Side.

Aldermen John Styler and Patrick Ludvigsen worried about the strain having a second late-night bar in the city would have on the police department. Prospect Heights’ only bar that closes at 4 a.m. on the weekends is Rocky Vanders. The bars would be on different ends of the city.

“Because of the split, this really divides our force at a time when we’re probably least staffed,” Ludvigsen said.
