Fly a kite in Schaumburg Sunday

The sky is the limit at Sunday's annual Flying 4 Kids event in Schaumburg.

The Schaumburg Park District's Bock Neighborhood Center and Park, at 1223 W. Sharon Lane, will host a local observance of the statewide kite-flying event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 15.

“This event gives families a chance to have fun and support their local park districts,” said Special Events Supervisor George Grey. “Families are encouraged to stop by Bock Park for a picnic during the kite fly.”

The afternoon will be spent flying kites and picnicking. Participants can bring their own kites or build one with a kite-making kit. Attendees must bring their own lunch.

The kite fly is free and open to all ages.

Flying 4 Kids is held to raise awareness of the Park District Youth License Plate program, which raises funds for youth after school programming at Illinois park districts.
