Current job: Hired in 2010 as the first director of soccer operations for Vancouver Whitecaps FC in MSL.

Suburban highlights: As a youth he played with Chicago Kickers, the Lake Villa-based German soccer organization. His brother Joe is a longtime Kickers board member. He attended the now closed Forest View High School in Arlington Heights before playing soccer at Western Illinois University from 1984 to 1987.

Player highlights: Second-round draft choice of the Dallas Burn for inaugural MSL draft in 1996. Played for three Chicago Fire championship teams (1998 MLS, 1998 US Cup, 2000 US Cup before retiring. Before joining the MLS, he also played indoor/outdoor seasons in NPSL (1992-96), APSL (1992-94), MISL (1988-92), and CSL (1989).

Coaching career: 2001-2003 Chicago Fire assistant; 2003-2007 D.C. United assistant; 2007-2009 D.C. United head coach. Finished his three-year contract with DC with a 55-48-31 record with one playoff appearance along with a US Open Cup title in 2008.
