An early morning fire inside an Elgin manufacturing plant caused about $250,000 in damage, officials said.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. at the SKF building, 900 N. State St., according to an Elgin Fire Department release.
“Given the time of the fire and the location of the fire, the damage could have been much worse if SKF didn’t have an effective fire protection system,” said Battalion Chief Terence Bruce.
Officials said the fire inside the former Chicago Rawhide Ltd. building was extinguished quickly and no one was injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.Copyright © 2013 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
