Royal weddings relived on DVD

“British Royal Weddings of the 20th Century”

With the world abuzz about the royal wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William Friday, this program will let you see the history of other royal weddings in Britain. The history of that nation is tied to these royal unions, and there are 18 weddings that are covered in this program, beginning in 1922 with Princess Mary and Henry Charles George. Others included are the weddings of then-Princess Elizabeth, Princess Margaret, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and, of course, Prince Charles and Lady Diana.

“Moguls & Movie Stars: A History of Hollywood”

Originally seen on Turner Classic Movies, this outstanding seven-episode series recounts the history of Hollywood and the motion-picture industry. The episodes are broken down in order, and we are taken from Thomas Edison and his inventions that started the film movement in America to the film “Easy Rider” and its impact on the way Hollywood would do business. The episodes are narrated by Christopher Plummer, and we see the progression through film clips and interviews with historians and Hollywood figures. The three-disc set comes inside a 40-page book and includes one hour of extras. Film lovers should add this one to their collections.

“20th Century With Mike Wallace: America at War”

Mike Wallace hosts these 10 thought-provoking episodes, and we see the conflicts as they actually happened. Besides great archival footage, we get expert analysis from military leaders, historians and journalists. You will hear from Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow, Morley Safer, Robert McNamara, David Halberstam and Sen. John McCain, along with a variety of veterans. The episodes are: “How We Went to War,” “Vietnam: A Soldier's Diary,” “Vietnam Dilemma,” “Portraits of Courage,” “Korea: The Forgotten War,” “America's Elite Forces,” “Military Debacles,” “The Gulf War Revisited,” “A Few Good Women” and “The Changing Face of Warfare.”

“Yanni: A Living Legacy”

Many people have discovered Yanni through his specials on PBS. His concerts are terrific and feature a band and many backup singers. This concert was filmed at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas in front of 10,000 fans. It was filmed in high-definition and will look and sound great on your television. The 14 songs include “On Sacred Ground,” “For All Seasons,” “The Storm,” “Creating,” “Enchantment,” “World Dance” and more.
