Wunderlich throws another 1-hitter

Alyssa Wunderlich fired her second straight 1-hit shutout, striking out 10, to lead No. 9 Naperville Central past host West Aurora 1-0 on Tuesday.

Wunderlich (5-2), who came two outs away from throwing a perfect game on Saturday against York, retired the final 14 batters Wednesday, the lone hit Ashley Reimer’s bunt single in the first.

Naperville Central (10-3, 3-0 DuPage Valley Conference) scored the lone run in the fifth. Maddi Doane singled with one out, the Redhawks’ first hit, was sacrificed to second by Jill Andreoni and scored on Juliet Tassi’s two-out single.

WW South 4, Glenbard East 0:Bekah Munday (5-3) twirled a 3-hitter, striking out five, and Hannah Granger slugged her sixth homer of the season for the Tigers (14-9, 2-2 DVC) in Wheaton.Lisle 5, Westmont 0:Melanie Early threw a 3-hit shutout, striking out 10 and supported her cause at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and RBI in Lisle.Mackenzie Buchelt drove in 2 runs, Summer Stitt went 3-for-5 with a run scored and Maddie Corrigan had a hit, walk and RBI for Lisle (13-1, 5-1 Interstate Eight Conference).Glenbard West 10, Hinsdale South 0:Taylor Steinhilber (5-3) struck out four and Kelly Borneman went 2-for-3 with a double, 3 runs scored and 3 RBI for the Hilltoppers (10-3) in Glen Ellyn. Emily Rooney went 3-for-3 and Maddie Morris 2-for-3 with a run and 2 RBI.
