No injuries in Lombard house fire

No injuries were reported Tuesday in a fire that caused more than $80,000 damage to a house in Lombard, authorities said.

The blaze was reported about 3:20 p.m. on the 1000 block of South Fairfield Avenue. At least two people were home at the time, but they got out safely, Chief Jerry Howell said.

When firefighters arrived, heavy flames were blowing out the front of the one-story, ranch-style house, Howell said.

Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes. Crews from Lombard, York Center, Downers Grove, Oak Brook and Elmhurst were on the scene.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Tuesday evening. Authorities weren’t immediately sure where the fire started.
