Future of energy on display at Naperville Smart Grid Initiative Open House

WHAT:

The NSGI Steering Committee invites the public to an engaging and educational open house to learn more about the city's $356 million electric utility asset and its exciting transformation to a more efficient, more reliable and smarter grid. The smart grid will empower Naperville's utility customers with tools, options and choices on how and if they decide to track and manage their energy use to fit their busy lifestyles. Attendees can learn about the smart grid, how it will impact them, smart meters, the project timeline and where they can go for more information.

To highlight the city's commitment to the environment and showcase the future of energy, the all-electric Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt will be on site. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy, Illinois Institute of Technology (tentative), NSGI vendors, Naperville for Clean Energy and Conservation and the Naperville Renewable Energy Program will join smart grid project team members to provide information and answer questions.

WHEN:

Tuesday, April 26 from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

WHERE:

Electric Service Center, 1392 Aurora Ave. Please use the building's south entrance when arriving for the open house.

Please note: All attendees (including media) must bring a photo ID and sign in for security considerations, since the open house will include tours of sensitive electric utility operations.
