Softball/Fox Valley roundup

Kali Kossakowski and Maddie Kerr each had 2 doubles as St. Edward’s softball team won for the third straight game and sixth time in the last seven games Monday, downing Guerin Prep 8-3 in a Suburban Christian Blue game at the Elgin Sports Complex.

Kerr was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, Kossakowski drove in a run, Kelsey Richmond had an RBI and Veronica Rolando had a double and an RBI for the Green Wave (6-7, 4-2). Tarah McShane also drove in a run.

Sarah Field was the winning pitcher, striking out four with 1 walk. She allowed 8 hits.

CL South 8, Jacobs 4: Liz Adams was 3-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI to lead the Gators (9-5, 2-3) to a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win. Rachel Lief (2-for-4, 2 RBI) also contributed to South’s offense. Sam Golf (5-0) picked up the win, striking out five and allowing 5 hits. Alyssa Lach (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI), Kelsey Peterson (2-for-4, 2B), Kara Arceneaux (RBI, 2 SBs) and Jenna Teson (2 SBs) led the Golden Eagles (7-7. 3-2). Marissa Lombardo suffered the loss.

Cary-Grove 14, Huntley 4: Lisa Semro had 3 hits including a 3-run home run and 4 RBI and Emma Gaulke added a home run to lead the Trojans (14-1, 5-0) to a Fox Valley Valley Division win. Sara Markelonis (3-for-4, 2 doubles), Taylor Dunne (3-for-5, 2B) and Sarah Leudo (3-for-4, 2B) also contributed for Cary-Grove. Lindsay Efflandt (12-1) struck out 10 and walked two while allowing 5 hits for the win. Randi Peterson (2-for-3, Hr, 2 RBI), Angela Tribuzio (HR, 2 RBI) and Kathery Hackett (2B) led the Red Raiders (5-9, 2-2). Taylor Larson was the losing pitcher.

Batavia 15, Larkin 0: Megan Johnson had a double for Larkin (7-12, 1-5) in this Upstate Eight loss. Kiernan Schock was the losing pitcher.
