The Hanover Township office of community health is a godsend of health services for seniors and many other groups of people who cannot afford the high cost of health care. It is a facility that many of the health care providers in this area should follow. Dedicated, compassionate and genuine concern for the people it serves.
Tricia Simon, I see her as the “founder” of this — is truly a saint. This office travels to seniors that cannot get out to the hospital or the clinic for “routine” tests, provides an in-home visit at a fraction of hospital testing services.
I know, I use Trish’s clinic for my monthly Pro-Time Test, at $7 at the clinic vs. $62.50 at my cardiologist’s hospital. Can I get this level of service at Cook County Hospital?
The Hanover Township assessor’s office is staffed with the friendliest people I have ever met in a government office. A visit to the assessor’s office is usually not a pleasure trip, but the staff puts you at ease, genuinely listening to your concerns and questions. The staff researches and gives you answers in a courteous manner. If you ever had to make a trip to the Cook County Assessor’s office, you will understand why we need to keep the assessor’s office open in Hanover Township.
Township Supervisor Brian McGuire initiated a plaque in honor of the veterans that have served our country. Their names are listed and the years they served. In addition to that plaque, Mr. McGuire and other volunteers host a semiannual dinner for the veterans. We veterans enjoy these get-togethers and thank Brian for his initiative to honor us for our service.
Now, what does all these services add to my real estate tax bill? $110 a year. What would my hospital test cost me for a year — $750, versus $84 at Hanover Township Health Office.
I insist that state Sen. (Terry) Link get the facts, hold a meeting at the senior center, hold a meeting at the Hanover Township offices, then tell us we do not want our township form of government.
