5K run/walk to benefit Miracle Maggie Foundation

The Maggie Miler 5K run/walk will be Saturday, April 30 in Des Plaines to honor the life of Maggie Sloan, daughter of two Des Plaines Elementary District 62 teachers.

Sloan was born with the rare cerebro costo mandibular syndrome, of which only 50 know cases exist. She died Feb. 15.

The 5K run/walk, benefiting the Miracle Maggie Foundation, will start and finish at Iroquois School at Touhy and Maple avenues. The race begins at 8 a.m. with registration starting at 7 a.m. Online registration is encouraged at signmeup.com/74554.

Police and volunteers will be present along the race route to manage traffic as runners pass through the course.
