Cary-Grove’s Golowach takes 400

It is scary how good Anthony Golowach can run the 400-meter dash with good weather.

On a cold and windy night, the Cary-Grove senior took top honors at the McHenry County Track & Field Meet with a time of 49.29. Golowach also won the high jump in Wednesday’s field events.

“I ran a good race despite the weather,” said Golowach. “When the weather gets better I should be able to run even faster.”

Crystal Lake Central won the boys event with a 114 points. McHenry was second with a score of 96. Cary-Grove was third with a score of 82.

Josh Freeman claimed top honors in the discus and shot put on Wednesday for Cary-Grove.

The Trojans also took the 400 (44.37) and 1,600 relays (3:27.9).

Huntley was fourth with a score of 61 points.

James Davis was the lone first-place finisher for the Red Raiders, winning the 100 in a time of 11.36.

Crystal Lake South was seventh with a score of 40. The Gators won the 3,200 relay in a clocking of 8:15.37.

Jacobs was eighth with 28 points.
