Three charged in Lombard drug bust

Three men are facing drug trafficking charges after police found about 80 pounds of marijuana inside a car in a Lombard parking lot.

Julian Iannino, 23, of the 1000 block of South Fairview, Lombard; and Steven Brooks, 21, and Eric Krzywicki, 20, both of Redding, Cal., each have been charged with one count of possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

They said officers with the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group took the three men into custody about noon Monday after they entered the parked car, which was under police surveillance outside a Lombard hotel. The marijuana found in the car has an estimated street value of at least $350,000, officials said.

“Drugs continue to be a problem in DuPage County, and I would like to thank officials with DuMeg for their continuing efforts in keeping our neighborhoods free from drugs and the pain and heartache they can bring,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

Iannino was being held Tuesday on $750,000 cash bond. A judge set bond for Brooks and Krzywicki at $350,000 each.

Authorities said Iannino, Brooks and Krzywicki each could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted. Their next court appearance is scheduled for May 2.
