Two arrested in Fox Lake armed robbery

Two suspects have been arrested and charged with the armed robbery of a Fox Lake gas station, police announced Tuesday.

Justin L. Greenenwald, 25, of the 200 block of Briarwood Drive, Poplar Grove, and Kathleen Levesque, 26, of the 9800 block of Prairie Ridge, Richmond, were charged with one count of aggravated armed robbery in connection with Sunday’s heist at the Mobil station at 501 S. Grand Ave., said Fox Lake Police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz.

Additional charges could be filed at a later date, he said.

Gliniewicz said Greenenwald walked into the Mobil about 6:30 p.m., pointed a semiautomatic handgun at the clerk, and demanded cash. He fled the store on foot.

A similar description of an armed robber was linked to similar crimes in Round Lake Heights and Antioch, Gliniewicz said.

“Information shared between the Johnsburg Police Department, the Antioch Police Department, and ourselves is what led to the capture of these two,” he said. “It really was an outstanding cooperative effort between all three departments.”

He would not go into detail on the information that was shared between the departments.

Greenenwald and Levesque were transferred to bond court late Tuesday afternoon. No information was available.
