Kennedy reopens after crash

It’s expected to take until after rush hour for the Kennedy Expressway to return to normal after a multi-car crash caused multiple lanes of the outbound Kennedy to be shut down in Chicago early Friday.

Three outbound lanes of I-90 were closed at 4:30 a.m. Friday following the accident at between Kimball and Addison streets, state police officials said.

The lanes were reopened after the crash investigation was completed at about 8 a.m., officials said.

Express lanes on the Kennedy Expressway in that area were also reversed to accommodate the heavy traffic caused when the lanes were closed. The flip resulted in delays on the inbound side of the expressway. The express lanes were returned to normal at about 8 a.m., officials said.

One person was injured in the early morning crash and transported to a Chicago hospital, officials said. The condition of that person is unknown at this time.

Two others involved in the crash refused treatment at the scene.
