Nicarico charity seeks logo artists

A literacy fund established in memory of Jeanine Nicarico is seeking artists to create a new logo for its annual “Run for Reading” charity.

The selected logo will be showcased on posters, fliers, T-shirts and websites promoting the upcoming May 15 event put on by the Jeanine Nicarico Memorial Fund for Literacy. The nonprofit organization supports reading programs throughout Naperville-area schools.

The contest is open to anyone, from amateur to professional artists. There are no residency restrictions.

Participants must e-mail a design and entry form — available at nicaricoliteracyfund.org — by midnight March 19 to info@nicaricoliteracyfund.org. Late-arriving entries will not be considered.

Other conditions: One logo per entry; logos may be changed; designs should “express the concept and mission” of the program; any artistic medium welcome; slogans or tag lines are optional; software-based designs should be sent in source program and also as a portable document file (PDF).

Jeanine Nicarico was abducted from her Naperville home, raped and murdered in 1983 at the age of 10. The literacy fund was established to memorialize her efforts to help other children, including those struggling to read.
