Kaneland H.S. stages ‘Pirates of Penzance’

Tickets for Kaneland High School’s performance of “The Pirates of Penzance” on are sale now. Performances are 7 p.m. Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20, in the Kaneland High School Auditorium.

“Pirates,” a musical comedy by Gilbert and Sullivan, features the struggles of apprentice pirate Frederic, played by Jake Rosko. Frederic falls in love with Mabel (Anna Novotny), the daughter of Major-General Stanley (Kendall Renaud). Just when Frederic plans to leave the pirates for Mabel and join the Major-General in bringing them to justice, Pirate King (Eric Eichelberger) pulls a surprise which leaves Frederic in a battle between love and duty.

The show is appropriate for all ages. Adults will appreciate the clever dialogue and kids will enjoy the swashbuckling pirate adventures. All ages will appreciate the music and lyrics.

A family plan has been introduced this year. The family plan allows all members living in the same household to attend for one price of $20.
