BG Singers say ‘That’s Love!” at weekend concerts

“That’s Love!” is the title of the BG Singers’ annual choral concerts Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6, at the Stevenson High School Performing Arts Center.

The group revisits some of the most beautiful and popular love songs of all time, by Neil Diamond, Bon Jovi, Queen, Elvis Presley and other artists.

Director Linda Rosen said the theme ties into several personal lives connected to the Singers. Her daughter got engaged at the BG Singers’ summer concert at the Rotary Green, while choreographer/assistant director Charla Silver and the chorale’s accompanist, each have children who became engaged this year.

“So, this theme was a foreshadowing of a very special time in our lives,” Rosen said.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the high school, 1 Stevenson Drive in Lincolnshire, just off Route 22.

Tickets are $18 at the door, or $16 in advance ($15 advance for children, seniors.) Buy them at the Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Drive, Buffalo Grove; call (847) 850-2100 or visit bgparkdistrict.org

“It is such an honor to direct a group of people that give so much of their time and talent to the performance,” said Rosen, who has directed for 19 years.

“Music growth is one of the most gratifying aspects of the job, but the single most wonderful part is seeing the friendships that have been made and the things we do together for the community as a committed group of citizens that love to make music together. To quote the show’s title, that’s love.”
