Chicago Golf Show opens Friday in Rosemont

Free golf!

Free golf balls!

Giveaways galore!

Parking? Admission? Hey, everything can't be free at the 28th annual Chicago Golf Show, which swings into action Friday at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.

But a free 18-hole round of golf for every attendee courtesy of GolfVisions Inc., which operates 12 courses across the metropolitan area, isn't something to ignore. Nor is a free sleeve of Wilson Staff golf balls to the first 500 people through the door each day, or more than 75 exhibitor raffle prizes given out hourly at the show.

“The Chicago Golf Show knows that Chicago golfers love great value and we're always doing our best to give them what they want,” said show operator Tom Corcoran.

The show, the nation's oldest and one of the largest, features more than 300 exhibitors spread throughout the 105,000-square-foot facility offering deals and information on clubs, balls, shoes, apparel, golf trip destinations and more.

In addition to long putt and long drive contests, golfers can check out the Daily Herald Golf Academy Stage, where top IPGA instructors will conduct teaching sessions.

Illinois PGA professionals will provide free lessons to attendees in the One-on-One Teaching areas. Lessons will be given on full swing, short game and putting.

If that's not enough swinging, those who make it over to Chicago's Largest Demo Day can hit the latest clubs from major golf manufacturers including TaylorMade, locally-based Wilson, Mizuno, Tour Edge, U.S. Kids and more.

Golfers can also learn about the advantages of custom club fitting from GreenGrass Clubfitting of Winfield, which has participated in all 28 Chicago Golf Shows.
