Asian Indian festival at CLC

A four-day festival celebrating Asian Indian culture will be Monday, Feb. 28 through Thursday, March 3, at the College of Lake County in Grayslake. The festival is a collaborative effort between the CLC International Center and the Multicultural Student Center. The public is invited to attend the following free events:

Monday, Feb. 28: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Room C003. Indian Marketplace with henna tattoos.

Tuesday, March 1:11 a.m.-1 p.m., Room C005 (C Wing Auditorium). Professional dancer Ahalya Satkunaratnam will perform and also discuss Indian dance. Free Asian Indian food will be served.

Wednesday, March 2: 4-7 p.m., Room A218. Presentation of the film, “The Journey,” followed by a discussion with writer and director Ligy J. Pullappally.

Thursday, March 3: 2:30-4:30 p.m., Room P103, Experimental Theatre. CLC dance and yoga instructor Therese Crews will give a yoga demonstration, Maryann Beckman-Berman will present information on Ayurveda (science of life) and free massages will be offered.

India is the destination for a new study abroad experience being offered by CLC and Joliet Junior College, May 13 to June 4, at Pondicherry University. Students will have the opportunity to earn six credits in three weeks at Pondicherry University on the Coast of the Bay of Bengal. The deadline to apply for the spring trip is Feb. 28.
