Over 100 schools to compete in annual Jazz in the Meadows

The largest high school jazz competition in the Midwest is back for the 26th year.

Jazz in the Meadows, a daylong series of jazz bands and combos, is 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at Rolling Meadows High School, 2601 Central Road, Rolling Meadows.

Local high school bands compete against each other for best in show, as well as have clinics with jazz masters.

Two professional groups will entertain, including Rolling Meadows High School graduate and bassist Tim Seisser, who brings his quintet to the main gym for a noon concert.

After the competition but before the awards are handed out, the Chicago Jazz Ensemble will play the grand finale concert, starting at 5 p.m.

Nearly 100 high school and junior high jazz bands from all over the Midwest come to play and compete in one day.

Breakfast, lunch, and snack items will be available during the day at locations throughout the building. Among the available concessions will be water, soda, coffee (provided by Brew Ha-ha), sandwiches, pizza, chips and fruit. T-shirts will be for sale.

Tickets are available at the door. An all-access ticket provides entrance to all performances during the day, Tim Seisser‘s noontime performance, and the grand finale concert with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble. All-access tickets are $10 each for adults, $7 for senior citizens and students. A family of four can purchase a set of all-access tickets for $25.

Tickets for the grand finale concert only are $7 adults, $5 for senior citizens and students.
