Tri-Cities girls basketball roundup

Aurora Central set a record for victories with a 56-37 victory over Indian Creek on Monday.

The win improved the Chargers to 16-9, breaking the record of the 36-year-old program.

Jackie Cardona led the Chargers with 14 points and Ashley Wilk scored 12. Seven other Chargers also scored.

St. Charles East 73, Oswego 61: The Saints (9-15) scored a season-high 73 points, led by 24 points from Paige Jordan, 14 from Amanda Hilton and 11 by Morgan Vyzral. They made eight 3-pointers.

St. Charles East has won three of its last four games. The Saints led 28-22 at halftime before scoring 45 points in the second half. They made 21 of 30 free throws including 8 of 11 by Jordan and 5 of 6 by Hilton.

Paige Harmon led Oswego with 32 points.

Geneva 83, Elgin 22: The Vikings (18-6, 8-1) led 26-2 after the first quarter on their way to an easy win. Kat Yelle scored 23 points, Ashley Santos 16 and Dori Rogers 12. Rachel Hinchman and Sammy Scofield both added 8 points.

The Vikings host Larkin on Wednesday, Streamwood on Thursday and St. Charles East Friday.

Aurora Christian 63, Englewood 31: The Eagles opened play in the Class 2A Lisle regional with an easy win Monday. Alyssa Andersen led with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Yvette Lira added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals, Mackenzie Bollinger scored 10 points and Sarina Oleson grabbed 7 rebounds.

The fourth-seeded Eagles play No. 1 Westmont at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the regional semifinals.
