Naperville Kmart reopens after garden center collapse
The Naperville Kmart at 1190 E. Ogden Ave. reopened at 11:30 a.m. today with no access to the garden center.
About half of the garden center roof collapsed Thursday morning under the weight of heavy snow. Shoppers and employees were in the area attached to the south side of the main store when the roof began to come down, authorities said, but escaped unharmed.
A store manager, who asked not to be identified Friday afternoon, said he has not yet heard from corporate offices about how soon the garden center will be repaired and reopen.
After today's late start, he said the store will resume normal hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
