If yes, please explain: noCandidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 To keep the village of Round Lake Beach financially sound and continue to find ways to deliver to the residents the services they need and desire to make the village an attractive and safe place to live and raise their families.Key Issue 2 To continue to push the infrastructure improvement program that I have led the campaign for on the village board for the entire village.Key Issue 3 As the economy start to improve, to draw to the village the commercial and retail expansion the residents deserve.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?I have 18 years experience on the board, I manage a 50 million dollar segment for my company, I understand the complexities of today's environment and do not have a learning curve to get up to speed when decisions have to be made.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Governments always can use more money, however in this economy it also must be balanced with what the residents can afford and what will dry up the business with the local merchants. So for now, we are just right.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Gangs. Most are concerned with random street violence and damage to property. We need to uniformly enforce our local ordinances but also find positive activities for them to do not only after school but in the evenings as well. We also need to re-enforce positive behavior by giving them mentors and influences.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?We have done a good job of trimming any fat out of our budget already in order to not raise taxes. If we had more money to spend, I would first look at infrastructure improvements.What#146;s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I led the discussion on alternative materials for road salting. We are now working to utilize a beet juice mixture where possible instead of all of the salt. When we can fully implement, the procedure will be safer for the environment.
