Police briefs in the Northwest suburbs

• Jessica L. Knight, 23, of the 14600 block of Unita, Brighton, Colo., was arrested around 8:20 p.m. Jan. 19 on the 1400 block of West Dundee Road and charged with prostitution after an undercover officer answered in Internet ad. Her court date is Feb. 17.

• Lawrence Diestelow, 59, of the 22600 block of North Prairie Road, Lincolnshire, was arrested around 4:50 p.m. Jan. 19 on the 1700 block of West Algonquin Road and charged with two counts of battery, resisting a peace officer, and pedestrian under the influence on a highway. Reports gave this account: An officer found him intoxicated and staggering on the road and he was nearly hit by vehicles. He kicked the officer in the stomach after he fell on the ground and the officer tried to help him up. He was verbally abusive and would not listen to directions. He was taken to Northwest Community Hospital for treatment for intoxication. When officers arrived to transport him to the police department, he hit an officer with his knee. His court date is Feb. 4.

• Thieves stole a stainless steel double oven and double drawer dishwasher stored in a garage on the 100 block of East Park between Dec. 17 and Jan. 17. Value was estimated between $6,000 and $7,000.

• Burglars stole a GPS unit, video game system, radar detector, four DVD collections and six video games out of a 2002 Grand Cherokee in a hotel lot at 75 W. Algonquin Road between 11:30 p.m. Jan. 17 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 18. Value was estimated at $510.

• Burglars stole a gym bag with clothes, boxing gloves and a detachable mouthpiece to a Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device out of a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am in a driveway on the 4100 block of North Walnut between 11 p.m. Jan. 17 and 7 p.m. Jan. 18.

Buffalo Grove

• Sean Krupp, 18, of the 1100 block of Hidden Lake Drive, Buffalo Grove, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. Jan. 18 on Bernard Drive at Elmwood Drive and charged with DUI (drugs), possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and no lights when required.

• Gabriela A. Carrillo, 32, of the 200 block of Armstrong Drive, Buffalo Grove, was arrested around 3:35 p.m. Jan. 15 on the 300 block of McHenry Road and charged with possession of marijuana.

• Thieves stole a 1995 Chevrolet Lumina in a driveway on the 1500 block of Rose Boulevard between 5:30 p.m. Jan. 16 and 6:15 a.m. Jan. 17. The resident stated that he was not sure if the car was locked, but he does know a spare set of keys were in the car.

• Burglars entered eight unlocked vehicles between 10 p.m. Jan. 16 and 7 a.m. Jan. 17, but nothing appeared to be missing, though one vehicle was damaged. The burglars ransacked two vehicles in a driveway on the 200 block of Cherrywood Road and two vehicles on the 600 block of Grove Drive. Burglars also entered an unlocked car on the 100 block of Cherrywood Road and three unlocked vehicles on the 200 block of Cherrywood Road. In one vehicle, someone smoked a cigarette and left the butt on the passenger seat, burning a hole in the cushion.

• Thieves stole a white and blue bicycle out of an open garage on the 1000 block of Whitehall Drive between 8 p.m. Jan. 17 and 5:45 a.m. Jan. 18.

• Burglars stole change, medications and prescription sunglasses out of an unlocked car on the 1000 block of Beechwood Road between 2:30 and 3 a.m. Jan. 17.

• Thieves stole a cell phone after the male victim dropped it in a bank parking lot at 175 N. McHenry Road between 5 and 10:55 p.m. Jan. 4.

• Thieves stole an iPod out of a dresser drawer at a home on the 500 block of Cameron Way during a party between 6 and 11:30 p.m. Jan. 14.

• Vandals in a white Ford Explorer damaged six mailboxes in the area of the 2600 block of Misty Woods Road around 12:45 a.m. Jan. 16.

• A motorist knocked over a mailbox on the 900 block of Old Arlington Court between 8 a.m. Jan. 15 and 9:20 p.m. Jan. 16.

Des Plaines

• A man stole a GPS unit, radar detector, tan pullover jacket, and CD case with 20 CDs out of a 2001 Saab station wagon in the rear auto repair area of a business at 2130 S. Oxford Road around 7:30 p.m. Jan. 11. Employees in a front office heard a rear service door close and saw a man running away.

• Burglars stole a purse valued at $125 out of a 2002 Buick Rendezvous in a driveway on the 900 block of East Walnut Avenue between 8 p.m. Jan. 17 and 9:30 a.m. Jan. 18. Someone tried to use a debit card in the purse at a BP gas station on Lee Street, but it was declined because the entered ZIP code was incorrect.

• Vandals smashed the windshield and broke the front passenger’s-side door handle on a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe on the 1400 block of Oakwood Avenue between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Jan. 17. Damage was estimated at $1,100.

• Burglars broke into a 2006 Lincoln Navigator in the YMCA parking lot at 300 E. Northwest Hwy. between noon and 12:40 p.m. Jan. 17 and stole a purse with makeup bag, digital camera, gift cards, and cash. Loss was estimated at $969.

• Thieves stole a tractor parked at the road construction site on the 2800 block of River Road between 4:30 p.m. Jan. 18 and 5:30 a.m. Jan. 19.

• Vandals flattened four tires on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am in a parking lot on the 300 block of Dover Drive between Jan. 16 and 18. Damage was estimated at $800.

Elk Grove Village

• Victoria M. Tichy, 46, of the 200 block of Clearmont Drive, Elk Grove Village, was arrested around 8:10 p.m. Jan. 7 at her home and charged with disorderly conduct. Her court date is Feb. 25.

• Edgar G. Morales, 20, of the 5600 block of South Artesian, Chicago; Victor Rodriguez-Lopez, 21, of the 1800 block of North Keeler Avenue, Chicago; and Ivan Garcia-Valdez, 25, of the 2100 block of North Pulaski, Chicago, were arrested around 12:01 a.m. Jan. 8 on the 100 block of Randall and charged with theft. Morales also was charged with possession of marijuana. Rodriguez-Lopez was also charged with resisting a peace officer and possession of marijuana. Their court date is Jan. 26.

• Adrian G. Gil De Montes, 41, of the 700 block of Crest Avenue, Elk Grove Village, was arrested around 8:55 p.m. Jan. 9 at his home and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. His court date is Feb. 14.

• Eustolio De La Torre, 34, of the 600 block of Page Avenue, Elgin, was arrested around 1:05 p.m. Jan. 10 on the 1000 block of Congdon, Elgin, and charged with identity theft. His court date is Jan. 31.

• Thieves stole a 2011 International tractor out of a lot at 2000 Elmhurst Road between noon Jan. 1 and 3 p.m. Jan. 8. Value was estimated at $90,000.

• Thieves stole an International 9700 tractor from a lot at 1300 Kirk St. between 4 p.m. Jan. 10 and 8:30 a.m. Jan. 12. Value was estimated at $70,000.

• Thieves stole a white 2005 Stickland Vang Box semitrailer loaded with salt from a lot at 2325 E. Higgins Road between 2 p.m. Jan. 6 and 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7. Value was estimated at $40,000.

• Thieves broke into a 2002 Freightliner semi-tractor at 2325 E. Higgins Road between 11:30 p.m. Jan. 8 and 8:45 a.m. Jan. 9, removed the ignition switch and drove the tractor across the parking lot. The offenders then stole the attached 53-foot trailer containing 28,000 pounds of newspaper inserts. Loss was estimated at $15,250.

• Burglars cut a chain-link fence around a storage area at 1400 Higgins Road between 7 p.m. Jan. 6 and 6 a.m. Jan. 7 and stole five scrap hand trucks and a pallet containing 1,000 scrap auto-style batteries. Loss was estimated at $2,650.

• Burglars broke into a 2004 Honda Accord on the 1900 block of East Higgins Road between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Jan. 9 and stole a suitcase with clothes and a backpack containing a laptop computer. Loss was estimated at $3,650.

• Thieves stole cast iron pipes and fittings valued at $3,000 from the rear of a business at 900 Lee St. between Jan. 2 and 10.

• Burglars opened a rear sliding patio door at a home on the 1100 block of Westview Drive between 10:50 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Jan. 4 and stole jewelry valued at $3,000.

• Burglars broke into a 2001 Ford Expedition on the 300 block of Crossen Avenue between 1 and 5:25 p.m. Jan. 5 and stole a stereo/DVD player, video game system, LCD screen and designer sunglasses. Loss was estimated at $1,250.

• Thieves stole the two rear wheels from a 2008 Ford E350 van in a lot on the 1300 block of Jarvis Avenue. Value was estimated at $1,000.

• Thieves stole a tire from two trailers parked next to each other in a lot at PSC Co., 1300 Landmeier Road, between Jan. 5 and 12. Value was estimated at $600. Burglars stole a DVD player, GPS unit and radar detector out of a 2001 Dodge Durango between 8:30 p.m. Jan. 11 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 12 in the same lot. Value was estimated at $700.

Mount Prospect

• Vandals painted gang graffiti with blue paint on an exterior wall in the Lake Center Plaza, 1660 Wall St., Jan. 18. Damage was estimated at $100. During the same time, vandals used blue paint to spray gang graffiti on the north and east exterior walls at the River Trails Tennis Center, 2831 Malmo Drive. Damage was estimated at $200.

• Vandals punctured four tires on a Jeep Compass SUV on the 1500 block of Dempster Street between 7 p.m. Jan. 18 and 10 a.m. Jan. 19. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

Palatine

• Enrique Sanchez, 61, of the 1200 block of West Quincy Court, Wheeling, was arrested around 9:50 p.m. Jan. 12 at Walmart, 1555 West Rand Road, and charged with retail theft.

• Jeffrey C. Gusfield, 62, of the 100 block of Arcadia Lane, Lake Zurich, was arrested around 1 a.m. Jan. 16 on the 1100 block of East Dundee Road and charged with local ordinance possession of marijuana.

• Burglars broke into a home on the 100 block of South Pine Street between 5 p.m. Jan. 12 and 4;15 p.m. Jan. 17. It was not immediately clear if anything was missing.

• Burglars broke into a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox at Grossinger Chevrolet, 151 E. Lake-Cook Road, between 10:30 p.m. Jan. 15 and 7 a.m. Jan. 17 and stole the driver’s-side air bag.

Rolling Meadows

• Adam Angellili, 29, of the 300 block of West Maureen, Wheeling, was arrested around 7:35 p.m. Dec. 30 at Meijer on the 1300 block of Meijer Drive and charged with retail theft. A police report said he took five bottles of alcohol and left without paying. His court date is Jan. 24.

• Thieves stole a purse from a customer at Meijer on the 1300 block of Meijer Drive around 8:50 p.m. Jan. 1. Value was estimated under $300.
