Bears’ Adams finally makes playoffs in 8th season

No one on the Bears’ roster has played longer in the NFL without experiencing playoff football than eight-year veteran nose tackle Anthony Adams.

“This is my first time coming to work in January,” the 6-foot, 310-pound run-stuffer. “It feels entirely different for me.”

Through four non-playoff seasons with the 49ers and the past three with the Bears, Adams said he never lost faith that he eventually would reach the promised land.

“You can’t think like that,” he said. “Your technique will start following what you’re thinking. Even when I was in San Francisco and were mathematically out, you’ve still got to go hard, you’ve still got to earn your paycheck, you’ve still got to earn your right to play in this league.”

Because he’s waited longer, Adams says he has a greater appreciation for the postseason.

“It’s hard to get wins in this league, and harder to get bye weeks,” Adams said. “Just to be in position to get to the Super Bowl, it doesn’t happen every day. When it does happen, you have to do everything within your power to try to win the whole thing.”

What a rush: Cornerback Charles Tillman, who was among the defensive backs victimized by Mike Williams#146; 10 catches for 123 yards in Week 6, was asked what could be done to contain him this time around.#147;Well, it would be nice to get a sack this game on (quarterback Matt) Hasselbeck,#148; Tillman said. #147;We didn#146;t have any sacks or turnovers. You definitely can#146;t throw the ball if you#146;re on your back, so we want to get a lot of pass rush going on, just to get some of the timing off with him and Mike Williams.#148;Injury report: Charles Tillman returned to practice Thursday after illness sidelined him a day earlier. Nose tackle Anthony Adams (calf) was limited during the outdoor practice but is expected to play Sunday. Linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa got the day off to rest his knee. For the Seahawks, middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu (concussion) did not practice for the second straight day. Coach Pete Carroll said earlier in the week that it was #147;favorable#148; that Tatupu would clear the league-mandated concussion testing.
