Schaumburg Flyers hire 'Manager of the Year'

The Schaumburg Flyers minor league baseball team has announced that Chad Parker, the 2010 Northern League Manager of the Year, is joining the team as its field manager for the 2011 season.

Parker managed the Joliet Jackhammers to the playoffs in 2010, a year after winning the Frontier League Manager of the Year award for leading the River City Rascals to a 61-41 record.

Previously, Parker also served as the head baseball coach at Brewton Parker College in Mount Vernon, GA 2001 to 2006. At Brewton Parker he rebuilt the baseball program from scratch, and achieved a 65 percent winning percentage during his tenure.

“Chad was far and away the best candidate available, and we couldn't be happier that he's joining the team,” said Flyers' Executive Director Scott Boor. “Chad's a winner, and winning a championship is our goal in Schaumburg.”

“I'm excited to join the Flyers, and look forward to building something special at Alexian Field,” Parker said. “The Flyers stadium, fans, and the community are among the best in all of minor league baseball, and we plan on fielding a team that matches that level of excellence.”

The Schaumburg Flyers are members of The Northern League, which plays 96 games in the 12-team North American League (www.northamericanleague.com).

Tickets for the 2011 season are available from the Flyers office at (847) 891-2255, or flyersbaseball.com.
