Scouting: Wisconsin @ Illinois

Wisconsin (11-2, 1-0) at Illinois (11-3, 1-0)

When: 5 p.m. at Assembly Hall

TV: BTN

Radio: WIND 560-AM

The skinny: As soon as the Illini wrapped up their Big Ten-opening win Wednesday at Iowa, Bruce Weber reminded his guys how Wisconsin kicked their butts in their last meeting as Assembly Hall. The Badgers won 72-57 as the Illini couldn't stop Jon Leuer or Jordan Taylor. They're the ringleaders of this year's squad, which ranks 24th in the Top 25 coaches poll and leads the nation in fewest turnovers (8.5 per game) and free-throw percentage (.805). While the Badgers also rank among the nation's leaders in scoring defense, that's largely a function of their slow tempo. No. 23 Illinois' defense will be the one on trial here. Can Mike Davis slow down Leuer (19.5 ppg), who's just as comfortable from 3-point range as in the post? Or might Weber choose to put freshman Jereme Richmond on Leuer?
